A CPT code is a standardized five-digit code describing a medical service — like 97110 for therapeutic exercise. On a physical therapy superbill, CPT codes tell your insurer exactly what happened in each session so your reimbursement claim can be processed.
CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes are the universal language insurers use to identify services. A typical PT superbill lists one or more per visit — common examples include evaluations (97161–97163), therapeutic exercise (97110), and manual therapy (97140).
